HONORING THE FALLEN

HONORING THE FALLEN

Police Department – Jamesburg, New Jersey

Patrol officer Quinn regularly stopped by Villa Borgese in Helmetta to pick up pizza for the crew. As it happened, eight-year-old Mikayla was dining with her mother, Mimi Jimenez-Raji, on the Friday when Ptl. Quinn arrived for his take-out.

Though she was quite shy, Mikayla greeted Ptl. Quinn with a smile. After the briefest of conversations, Mikayla leaned over to her mother and whispered that she wanted to pay for the policeman’s food, but she wanted to keep it a secret.

When Officer Quinn went to pay the cashier, he was told about the good deed. Something in the employee’s smile told the seasoned officer there was more to the story.

Through diligent police work, the Jamesburg police department quickly broke the epic case. One that flabbergasted not only the department’s hardened officers but the community as well.

Mikayla has a special place in her heart for police officers because Mikayla’s father, Thomas Raji, was a police officer in Perth Amboy and was tragically killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver. Sadly, Mikayla never got the chance to meet her father. She was born seven months after he was killed.
